Frank Lamont Davis

Jan 30, 2024

1946 – 2024

Frank Lamont Davis passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Frank was born on September 14, 1946, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rulon and Bernice Lamont Davis and was the youngest of four children (Bonnie, Ruth Ann, and Montie). Frank was energetic and approached life with optimism and enthusiasm, even at a young age. Frank was a big tease, a doting uncle, and had a special place in his heart for all animals, especially his dog, Towser, his best friend and loyal companion.

In high school, Frank was active in athletics, lettering in football and basketball. During his senior year, he was President of the Lettermen’s Club and co-captain of the football team. After graduation from high school, Frank attended BYU for one year before leaving for a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Brazil, North mission in 1965. After his mission, Frank continued his education at BYU, graduating in Business Management in 1972.

On December 18, 1971, Frank married the love of his life, Priscilla Wickham, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple. They shared 52 wonderful years together as best friends and companions. Frank adored Priscilla, her gift of nurturing, her Christ-like service to everyone she met, and her unmatched beauty that was just as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. She was his perfect match.

Frank and Priscilla settled in Orem, Utah, to raise their three children: Shea, Sommer, and Spencer.

Frank was the ultimate entrepreneur and salesman. He was highly gifted in developing unique business ideas into successful businesses-jewelry, golf, health food, cars, gold mining, food storage, and solar were just a handful of the companies Frank had over the years. Frank had two thriving businesses at the time of his death: Optivida Health and Lion Energy, which gave him so much joy. He continued working from his bed until his final days, making sales and speaking passionately about nutrition, health, and the wonderful opportunities ahead with his solar business.

Frank loved the youth and spent almost all his church service serving the youth in his ward. He was a little kid at heart and loved all the many adventures he shared with them, from trips to Lake Powell, Moab, and St. George. He found deep satisfaction in beating all the young men biking up to the top of Squaw Peak or Slick Rock, knowing he was triple their age and could tease them about this for years to come. Frank served as a BYU Bishop, home ward Bishop, Bishopric Counselor at the Assisted-Living Center, Young Men’s President, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and Stake High Councilor. He was serving as the Family History and Temple Coordinator at the time of his death. Frank magnified every calling, always putting 110% into everything he did. He was merciful and kind and showed so much love to those he served. He had a gift for solving problems and helping others.

Frank played in the World Senior Games for over 25 years and medaled in several events in both racquetball and basketball. He looked forward to participating in the games every year in St. George. He made many life-long friends through his association with the games. Frank was nominated as Entrepreneur of the Year and served as President of the Freedom Festival in Provo in 2002 after serving many years before and after on festival committees and the festival board. He loved serving in the community and being involved in so many different capacities throughout his life.

Frank was optimistic, confident, resilient, generous, loyal and forgiving. Frank was also adventurous and the ultimate risk-taker. He approached life at full speed. From crashing in the Amazon jungle to being robbed at his jewelry store, there was never a dull moment in his life, and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Frank loved being active and enjoyed doing almost everything, including racquetball, basketball, golf, fishing, water and snow skiing, biking, and traveling. He was an avid BYU sports fan, attending every football and basketball game as a 40-year season ticket holder. As a family, we spent many vacations at BYU bowl games.

Frank was successful in many ways throughout his life, but what mattered most to him was his relationship with God and his Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and his friends and making time to nurture those relationships. His testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was strong and unwavering. He had a sure knowledge of the plan of salvation and complete faith in His Heavenly Father’s will and plan for him. Frank spent the last few months of his life in bed, focusing on what mattered most, and he cherished the time he spent with countless friends and associates surrounding his bedside and sharing their love. He was eternally grateful for the family bonding during those last precious moments. He mentioned he wouldn’t have traded them for anything in this world. His kids and grandkids were his greatest joy and he loved them with his whole heart. He was so proud of them and will now be their guardian angel, cheering them on and loving them from the other side.

Frankie, Frankers, “F,” Papa Frank, Papa Troll, Huh, Sandwich, France-Lynch, Francis, Swees, Daddy -We love you! We will miss you every day, but we are so grateful for the knowledge we have that we will one day be with you again. Frank is survived by his wife, Priscilla; his three children, Shea (Dave) Christensen, Sommer (Dusty) Dastrup, and Spencer (Rachel) Davis; and six grandchildren (with one on the way): Savanna, Landry, Chance, Livvy, Marli, and Watson. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Ann (Richard) Hooper, and brother, Montie (Shauna) Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Malan.
