Carol’s childhood was a happy one. She was well loved by her parents and grandparents. She loved to help care for her three younger brothers. In 7th grade, she lived with her maternal grandparents in Arlington, Virginia. Years later, Carol returned to visit her grandparents and worked at the Pentagon.

During her youth, Carol helped pick and sort fruit on the family farm in Orem. She also worked at the Scera Theater, as a candy girl, usher and at the ice cream counter. Carol was always very social and outgoing. She enjoyed attending school dances and activities. She was crowned Miss Orem in 1953 and attended BYU for two years.

Carol met Boyd Nielson at the Scera Pool where she was working. They were married on August 19, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they made their permanent home in Orem where they lovingly raised seven children. The ultimate homemaker, Carol loved sewing, canning, and cooking. Family was most important to her and everything she did was to show her love for them. Carol cherished each one of her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with them at monthly family gatherings. Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She truly exemplified a Christ-like life and taught her children to do the same. Carol testified often to her children and grandchildren about Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation.

Carol worked for 29 years as a popular Weight Watcher leader. She loved teaching and supporting other members through her creativity and warm nature. Carol enjoyed traveling and took many trips all over the world. Carol loved people and made friends easily. She spent many hours creating scrapbooks that documented precious memories.

Carol is survived by her children: Terry Nielson (Karen), Diane Simmons (Brad), Janet Zobell (Ralph), Chris Wilcox, Linda Nielson, Andrea Nielson, and Condita Washburn. She is also survived by her brothers David and Kent Reese, 18 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Lamont Nielson, parents Nedra and Thomas Reese, brother Gary Reese, son-in-law Blaine Seamons, and great-granddaughter Paetyn Thomas.

Services honoring Carol will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024 in the LDS Chapel located at 670 E. 800 N. Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the Provo City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity.
