Carole Glazier Sweeten

Jun 12, 2024

Carole Glazier Sweeten was born November 21, 1930 to Lorena Mae Bills and Roy Glazier in Riverton, Utah. She attended South High School in Salt Lake City where she loved singing in the choir and performing in musicals and plays graduating in 1949. She married Lyle Howard Sweeten and together they raised 6 children; Mark (Linda), Sheryl, Cindee (Milton Steed), Tori (Dave Spainhower) Dustin (Marlee) and Chris. They were married for 63 years until Lyle’s passing in 2016. Lyle was a pilot in the Air Force, which led to the family moving often in their first years of marriage finally settling in Bountiful, Utah for 17 years. In 1971 they moved to Alpine where they lived for 25 years until relocating to Pleasant Grove and then Lindon. Carole worked for Mountain Land Realty for 30 years and considered everyone there her second family.

Carole contracted polio at the age of 23 and was told she would never walk again or have more children. She defied the odds, and with difficulty, did walk again and also had four more children! Each challenge in her life was met with the same determination right until her last breath, which was taken on June 10, 2024 in her Lindon home. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, flowers, and attending the Temple. She also loved leading the music in church, which she did well into her 90s.

Carole is survived by her 6 children, 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, all 10 of her siblings, her husband, 2 grandsons, and 1 great grandson.
