Jun 20, 2024

March 14, 1930 — June 15, 2024

Orem — Vaughn L Thomas, born on March 14, 1930, in Wales, Utah, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Connie May Larson Thomas. His 94 years were marked by devotion to family, singing, and testifying of Jesus Christ.

Vaughn spent hours outside riding horses and being in the mountains. His mother inspired his lifelong love of music. He sang with his children, in choirs, and a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for seven years. In 1949, he married Connie May Larson in the Manti Temple, and together they raised four children, who have since grown to include 33 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Vaughn dedicated 33 years to the Church Educational System, serving as a master teacher and visionary administrator. His service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints included roles as bishop, branch president, Scoutmaster and many more. Vaughn and Connie also served two missions–one in Oklahoma and another in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. His impact extended beyond formal roles; wherever he went, Vaughn changed lives through spirit-filled teaching.

His legacy of faith, music, and dedication lives on in the hearts of family, friends, and countless students. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at 6050 W Chapel Drive in Highland, Utah. Friends can call two hours before the service, and there will be a viewing on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Warenski Funeral Home in American Fork.
