1941 — 2024

Carma Jean Young Bowen of Provo, Utah, passed away March 5, 2024, at the age of 82 from kidney disease. Her husband Scott is now reunited with the love of his life. Carma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born in Provo, Utah on May 27, 1941, to Jesse Leroy Young and Alice Dorthea Tucker Young.

Carma was the 9th of 10 children. She loved her family more than words can say. She had wonderful memories of growing up in South Provo where she and her siblings played on bunker hill and in the pastures using their imaginations to create magical worlds. Carma started painting when she was young and became a very skilled artist. She blessed the lives of many with her oil painting, sketching, photography, sculpture, gardening, sewing, poetry, and story writing. She included family and friends in her creativity and helped them realize their own worth and beauty.

Carma was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gospel filled her life with joy and she loved to study and learn all she could about it. Her testimony was one of her greatest treasures. She strived to share the Savior’s love with everyone she came in contact with.

Carma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sherman Scott Bowen who died in 2010; also, siblings Wilford Young, Ruth Baum, Dorothy Folk, Melvin Young, Lavon Richards, Donna Tanner, Mary Blackburn, and Jay Young.

Carma is survived by her 8 children, Nathan (Treasa) Bowen, Suzanne (Paul) Jones, Shannon (Eric) Fawson, Brendan (Diann) Bowen, Heather Bowen, Jeanne Bowen, Jonathan (Ann) Bowen, Michael (Devyn) Bowen, 29 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, LuDean (Dean) Hutchison.

Carma and her family are so grateful for all the family and friends who visited with her during her last days on this earth. She felt like she was attending her own funeral and felt so much love and care from everyone.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS chapel located at 376 North 700 West, Provo, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
