Nancy Deputy Braithwaite

Nancy Deputy Braithwaite was born on June 16, 1937, in Wilmington, Delaware, to Benjamin and Gladys Deputy. She passed away March 15, 2024 at home, surrounded by her children.

She grew up in Maryland and Delaware with her four siblings. She was very involved in 4H, competing in canning, sewing and serving in leadership positions. She graduated from Wicomico High School. In 1955 she started attending Brigham Young University where she met L. Dale Braithwaite. They married in the Manti Utah Temple on June 7, 1958.

During her life she never stopped going and doing. Besides raising her five kids and caring for her health over the years she blessed the lives of many individuals by making wedding dresses, wedding cakes, flower arrangements, leper bandages, quilts and monogramming; and by serving in the Provo Utah Temple, the Missionary Training Center, Utah Valley Hospital Emergency Room, American Red Cross, Utah Valley Symphony, and girls camp. She earned a nursing certificate from UVSC in 2000. Nancy also enjoyed caring for her yard, canning, running and hiking hundreds of miles.

She is survived by her five children: Steve (Pam Brown), Christine (Kendell Bateman), Russell (Beth Scott), Rebecca (Seth Swindle), Jeffrey (Holly Fuller), 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and her sisters Susan Carpenter, Diane Wallace (Ken Wallace). She is preceded in death by her husband, L. Dale Braithwaite; her parents, Benjamin and Gladys Deputy; her brother, Russell Deputy; her sister, Anne Wardell; and son-in-law, John Bestor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Cherry Hill 3rd Ward chapel, 1650 South 200 East, Orem, Utah. Friends are invited to attend a visitation, also at the Cherry Hill 3rd Ward Chapel, on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will take place in the Provo City Cemetery.
