Ray James Hutchinson Jr.

1943 – 2024

Ray James Hutchinson Jr. 80 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family March 15, 2024 at his home in Cedar Hills, Utah. Born June 24, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Ray James Hutchinson and Vera Portia Stewart. He married Lexiane Merrell August 19, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. The focus and joy of Ray’s life was spending time with his family. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ray enjoyed serving as bishop of the Santa Susana 3rd Ward in Simi Valley, CA. He loved being a temple worker and serving the Lord on missions to England as a young man, and to the Philippines and Poland with his wife.

His broadcasting career included working for KBYU, KUED and Bonneville Satellite.

Survivors include his wife, Lexiane; children, Wendy (Eric) Reynolds, Tracy (Chick) Mooney, Dallin (Angela) Hutchinson, Kristie (Seann) McWhorter, Shari (Jesse) Card, Gina (Zac) Robinson; 29 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and siblings David (Shelley), Bruce (Glennis), Melinda Morris Hutchinson, Janet (Roger) Anderson. Preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Carson and siblings Carolyn and Gary.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11:00 am at 4580 W Cedar Hills Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 W 11000 N, Highland and Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
