Highland — Ken Avellino, 76, passed away on May 10, 2024, in Ames, Iowa. He was born on July 13, 1947, and was raised in Revere, MA. He worked at Avellino’s Market on Revere St. in Massachusetts throughout high school, a family-owned business. After a four-year stint in the US Navy stationed on the USS Enterprise and the island of Guam, he studied computer science at Brigham Young University, Provo, UT. That is where he met his beloved wife, Esther Gray, and they married in the Salt Lake City LDS temple on June 1, 1971. He lived in Highland, Utah, from 1979 to 2023. He was employed by Texas Instruments, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and Learning Tree International at various times. Since 1995, he has been self-employed as an internet consultant and loved to travel the country and world teaching computer programming. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vesta Avellino, his son, John Avellino, and his wife, Esther (Gray) Avellino.

He is survived by his son Paul (Shelley) Avellino, daughter Julie Avellino (Charles), brother Jay Avellino, cousins Judy (John) Moseley, and brother in-law Marty (Kris) Gray.
