Veral Nielsen

Veral (Bud) Nielsen passed away Tues. Oct. 8, 2024 of complications of Covid. He was born July 21, 1929 in Dividend, Utah to Elmer and Lillis Nielsen. He attended schools in Goshen, and then moved to Portland, OR with his family. After graduating from High School, he moved back to Utah. He went to work for Geneva Steel. In 1951, he was drafted into the army, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He married Dessie Robison Wilson upon returning from the army. The marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple. His children were Frances Wilson Brown, Charlie Ray Wilson and Suzanne Nielsen Spencer. He has 3 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Bud was an outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting, trap shooting and 4- wheeling. He was sometimes known to others by Big Daddy, Rawhide and Big Grandpa.

He was widowed but married Mary Jean Brown later in life, and enjoyed her children.

A viewing will be held Tues. Oct. 15, 2024 at Walker Mortuary in Payson from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with funeral services at 11:00 AM at the Payson 11th Ward Chapel, 780 West 500 South, Payson, Utah. Visitation prior to services from 10:00 AM to 10:45 at the chapel. Interment at Payson City Cemetery with military rites.
