Gwen Moon Taylor, age 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at her home in Provo, Utah surrounded by her loved ones.
Gwen was born on April 9,1938 in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah, while her mother was visiting her sister. She was raised in a large loving family on a sheep ranch in Hanna, Utah, and participated with her family in all aspects of her family’s ranch life. Gwen also lived on a ranch in Craig, Colorado for a few years. Starting at around the age of eight, she also mostly attended school in Provo, Utah during the winters, eventually graduating from Brigham Young High School in 1956. As a student at BY High, she was a varsity cheerleader, where she made many treasured lifetime friendships. The most important relationship she made, however, was with her lifelong sweetheart Hyde L. Taylor. They were married on August 22, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Hyde made the Army a career and they spent the next 24 years living an adventurous military life traveling and moving constantly, with frequent separations due to war and military assignments before retiring and settling down in Provo, Utah.
Gwen is survived by her beloved husband, Hyde L. Taylor, and their four children, JoLene (Grant) McQueen, Janice (Greg) Knuteson, Aaron (Andrea) Taylor, and Matthew (Max) Calise, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Marcus Vickers, Erica (Rickey) Casper, Addison Rose , Sarah (Tyler Belnap) McQueen, Michael McQueen, Catherine McQueen, Mary Rose (Grant Valentine) McQueen, Zadie Taylor, Maxwell Taylor, and Blaise Taylor. She also has four great-grandchildren, Rylan D. Casper, Taylor Casper, Maverick Taylor, and Maeve Belnap.
Gwen is preceded in death by her parents Robert Henry Moon and Valera Duke Moon, as well as her siblings Doyle Moon, Donna (Valda) Massey, Raymond Moon, and Carol Moon. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses Carma (Neil) Fabrizio, Carolyn Moon, Donna Moon, David (Jane) Moon, and Ilene (Brian) Harward. She also leaves behind many loved friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Pleasant View 4th Ward Chapel, 350 East 2950 North, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Tuesday, October 29, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Camp Williams, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bergmortuary.com.
