Tesha Gurule

Oct 28, 2024

April 9, 1987 — October 22, 2024

Provo — Tesha Marie Gurule, age 37, passed away on October 22, 2024, after a long battle with alcohol addiction. Born in Provo, Utah, to Kim Kenison and Anthony Gurule. Tesha was known for her selflessness and loyalty, always putting others before herself. She was raised by her extraordinary grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Sheppard, who influenced the person she became.

Tesha had a zest for life, and some of her favorite moments included going on car rides, listening to music, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors. She found joy in laying on the lawn on blankets at Grandpa and Grandma’s house, while laughing with family and friends, and capturing the beauty of sunsets through photography. Tesha took photos at every family party, picnic, and get-together, and we will forever be grateful for the memories she preserved through photos. Many cherished summers were spent camping in Bryce Canyon and Lake Powell, four-wheeling at the dunes or in the mountains with friends, and celebrating the 4th of July every year in Delta at her aunt and uncle’s home.

In her final days, Tesha wanted to share an important message: turning to alcohol to cope with pain or trauma is not the answer. Ultimately, she hoped that by sharing her struggles, she could encourage others to seek help and find healthier paths to healing.

Tesha is survived by her mom, Kim Kenison; her grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Sheppard; her niece, Shantell Gurule (Frank Medrano); her nephews, Frankie, Fausto, and Fabian; her aunt, Arlane Johnson; cousins, aunts, and uncles; and her beloved grumpy cat, Cosmo. She is also survived by a half-brother and half-sister, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces on her dad’s side of the family. She was preceded in death by her dad, Anthony Gurule; brother, Brandon Gurule; grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts and uncles; and many friends. We are sure there was a great celebration as she joined them.

Tesha’s life will be celebrated on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Provo Elks Lodge, 1000 S. University Avenue, Provo, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to assist with any medical bills that may come or funeral costs at https://gofund.me/4fce0573

No burial services will follow as Tesha has chosen to be cremated with arrangements to be made at a later date and time with family.

Tesha will be deeply missed but never forgotten, her spirit living on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her message of hope and healing inspire others to seek help if they are struggling.
