Mary Ann Cochran Hiskey

Sep 13, 2024

Mary Ann Cochran Hiskey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and generous and loyal friend to many, passed away peacefully, from a broken heart, on September 11, 2024, at Utah Valley Hospital surrounded by her children.

Mary Ann was born July 26, 1941, in Rolla, Missouri to Thomas Cochran and Hazel Bowen. She was the oldest of thirteen children and was raised in Phelps County Missouri.

Mary Ann graduated from Rolla High School in 1959. Right after high school, she joined the air force. During her 2 years of service she was stationed in Amarillo, Texas. While serving in the Air Force she was crowned, Miss Fire Prevention by Col. Henry Forbes. While stationed in Amarillo, she also met and married Michael Kent Hiskey on March 4, 1961. They celebrated 61 years together, before his passing in 2022. Michael and Mary Ann raised four children.

Some of Mary Ann’s hobbies were scrapbooking, gardening, and reading. Her yards were always so beautiful and filled with beautiful rose bushes, and colorful flowers. She also volunteered many hours at the Orem City Library.

Michael and Mary Ann were always very generous and helped those in need. They loved paying for strangers’ meals and did this without wanting to be recognized.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, John Hiskey, Brad and Tammy Hiskey, Andy and Melissa Wiley, and Thomas Hiskey (Deceased) and Cheryl DeStJeor; siblings, Ruby, Sharon, Norma, Jimmy, Jackie, Betty, Debbie, Lynn, Robbie, and Steve.

She is survived by her ten grandchildren Erica and Bob Finigan, Austin and Lizzy Kinsey, Chance and Patrice Hiskey, Meagan and Dallan Johnson, Rorry and Kelsi Hiskey, Rachelle Hiskey, Heather and Brady Loveless, Tyler and Kaylee Kinsey, Russell and Abby Hiskey, Savannah and Jake Hansen. Also, her great-grandchildren, Jayde, Jordyn, Taylor, and Kirk Hiskey, OakLee and Brylee Loveless, McCrae Hansen, Gia, Hayes, and Finn Hiskey, Colin Finigan, Kaysen and Navy Kinsey, Robert and Hattie Johnson.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Michael Kent Hiskey, who she dearly missed; parents, Thomas and Hazel Cochran; siblings, PJ Weber and Bill Cochran; and her youngest son, Thomas Michael Hiskey. I am sure the reunion with her family will be a happy one.

A graveside service will be held at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or donate a book to your local library. This is something that Mary Ann and Michael loved.
