Fred Vincent
November 24, 1936 – March 29, 2025
Spanish Fork — Fred Perry Vincent passed away March 29, 2025 on the same family farm he was born on eighty-eight years ago in Spanish Fork, Utah. Fred was born November 24, 1936 to Reed and Donna Perry Vincent and claims he started farming the next spring. He learned the value of hard work early on as he raised cattle and poultry with his parents and older brother, Dean.
While in high school, Fred started building a herd of his own and bought his first piece of ground shortly after graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1955. While farming was his life’s calling, he had other jobs and retired with 29 years of service as a road foreman with the Utah Department of Transportation.
Fred married LaVerne Hurst on May 17, 1968. They later divorced. He was a loving father and steadfast role model of hard work to his children Carrie, Kris, Jackie, Fred, and Scott.
Fred cherished farms, farmers, and old Farm-All Tractors. He spent his life raising Black Angus cattle and mentoring the next generation of farmers. He was always willing to share his advice and wisdom, and his pioneer spirit shone in his resourcefulness and knack for repairing and repurposing all sorts of farm equipment.
Fred was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his children, Carrie (Randy) Smith, Kris Nelson, Jackie (Clay) Smith, Fred R. (Jamie) Vincent, and Scott (Abbi Phillips) Vincent, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, cherished Uncle Willis, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Fred’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to Maple Creek Hospice and Synergy Home Health for their compassionate care during his final days. Special thanks to J. Merrill Hallam, Lynn Swenson, Mike Lloyd and countless friends and neighbors for their friendship and love for Fred.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 at 1158 E 1240 S, Spanish Fork at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 – 10:30. Interment will take place following the service at Spanish Fork Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please be like Fred and do something kind for a neighbor or donate to your local FFA chapter. Then, just as Fred would, get back to work. He will be greatly missed.
