Douglas Lynn Wright

1949 – 2025
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Douglas Lynn Wright, passed away on August 1, 2025 in St. George, Utah. Douglas was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 24, 1949, the third child of Gordon LuGene Wright and Marilyn Richards. He is preceded in death by his first wife (Suzette Courreges), parents, one brother (Gordon Steven Wright), one sister (Susan Wright Hastings), and one grandson (Colin Wright).
He is survived by his second wife of 2.5 years, Kerry Wyckoff, children: Heather (David) Prout, Douglas Christopher (Tracy) Wright, Ashley (Michael) Carfrey, Annabelle (Eric) Smith, Jeremy David (Erika) Wright, Michael (Katrina) Wyckoff, Scott (Shandi) Wyckoff, Becky (Yasu) Suzuki, Karen (Nicole) Ferrara, Tracy (Craig) O’Daniel, and Chris Wyckoff. He is also survived by two sisters, Deborah (Guy) Cox and Pamela (Craig) Lundell, two brothers, Paul Harry (Vicki) Wright and Timothy Edward (Teresa) Wright, as well as 50 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (with another 2 on the way).
He spent time growing up in Brooklyn (NY), San Antonio (TX), Rochester (NY), and Ft. Worth (TX). He was an active child who enjoyed playing practical jokes on his siblings, parents, and anyone else who was a good target. While in his early teens, Douglas met Suzette in their high school seminary class and they dated throughout high school.
Douglas served a mission for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Netherlands Mission, mainly in the country of Belgium, from age 19 to 21. Following his return, Douglas and Suzette were married on December 16, 1971 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. While initially establishing their home in a tiny apartment at BYU, they eventually moved back to their home state, living in Austin, Euless, Bedford, and San Antonio, Texas. Together, they raised five children.
He spent his career as an industrial pump salesman in the Dallas and San Antonio areas. Shortly after retiring and moving to Lehi, Utah in 2020, his wife, Suzette, of 49 years passed away. Douglas then met and married Kerry in 2022 in the Provo City Center LDS Temple and together they moved down to St. George, Utah where he lived to the end of his life.
Doug was always known for a good “dad joke” and tried his hardest to make everyone laugh. He would meet you for the first time, find something out about you, and then spend an hour talking to you about it. He loved being around and talking with people.
Doug was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over his life, he served in various capacities, showing his family a great example of Christlike service and sacrifice.
The family would like to thank all those who have reached out to share their love and stories during this time. Condolences may be sent to www.olpinmortuary.com. If you wish to send flowers, please direct them to:
