Born in Safford, Arizona, A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rex was known as one of the last cowboys, with a lifelong love for animals and family. He is survived by his wife, Fauna Costner Smith; 10 children and nine grandchildren.
