Jerry James Rothe, 83, of Payson passed away on Dec. 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife of 61 years and all six of his children.

Jerry was born in Lehi, Utah, on Sept. 6, 1942, to Ernest and Ruth Rothe and was the second oldest of six children. He grew up farming and causing trouble. He moved to West Mountain as a young boy and loved growing up taking care of animals and doing many chores.

He married his bride on June 5th, 1965, and they quickly started their home and family in Payson.

Jerry was always a good provider and worked many jobs in his life. He was a hod carrier, worked in the mines, spent many years at Geneva Steel, and worked for Payson City for a period of time. Jerry also ran his own businesses selling nuts and bolts as well as a snow plow business.

Jerry is survived by his wife Donna Warren; his four sons and two daughters; Kerry, Kenny (Julie), Kevin (JoAnna), Julie Warner (former spouse Wade Warner, and current lifetime partner Joshua Davis), Karl, and Janelle; nineteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren along with two sisters and one brother, Anna Rothe, Marilyn (Kent) Crawford, and Paul (Pam) Rothe. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Jerry was welcomed to the other side by his parents, two brothers Ray and Richard, and his great-grandson Kingston.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to Orchard View Assisted Living and Enhabit Hospice, and the many amazing people who helped care for and support Jerry during the last few years of his life.

Dad (Grumpy Elmo) we hope you have an endless supply of peanut butter and jelly, WWE Wrestling and Walker Texas Ranger and feel so much love. We will miss you every day.
