Sherman Frank Gardner

1945 – 2024
Sherman Frank Gardner, age 79 passed from this life on December 17, 2024 in Gilbert, AZ. Born August 16, 1945 in Provo, UT, the eldest of four children of Frank H. Gardner and Norma Taylor Gardner. His siblings are Jan Lundeberg (Carl), Salt Lake City; John B. Gardner (Julie), West Jordan, UT; Suzie Gardner, Provo, UT. He served a rewarding fulltime mission to Texas, mostly as a Zone Leader. Following his mission, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two years during the Viet Nam war. He was assigned to work in the Administration Office at El Toro Marine Base where he assisted returning soldiers to apply and attend various colleges enabling them to return to a productive civilian life.
Upon completion of his military duties, he graduated from Brigham Young University and married his first wife and has five children, Eric, Jonathan (deceased), Abbi, EmmaLee and Aaron.
Sherman married his second wife, Eileen Fahey Gardner in the Provo Temple in 1997. They both felt daily gratitude for spending 27 years together. Eileen has two daughters from her previous marriage, Abigail Sullivan and Rosaleen Peavy.
What can be said of Sherman’s legacy? That he always “took the high road” and never spoke ill of anyone. He had amazing patience and claims he learned it from his firstborn son, Eric who has Down Syndrome. Eric taught a lot of people a lot of patience and a lot of love. He is a gift to their family.
Sherman spent most of his career life with the telephone companies in both Utah and Arizona.
Graveside services are pending and will be held at Provo City Cemetery.
