Loraine Laursen Barney
Santaquin, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Loraine Laursen Barney, age 74, passed away December 20, 2024, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was born July 27, 1950, in American Fork, a daughter of John Hyrum and Irene Cook Laursen. She grew up in American Fork and graduated from American Fork High School, Class of 1968.
She married the love of her life, Rodger LaRay Barney May 6, 1971, in Elko, Nevada. He preceded her in death August 2, 1999.
Loraine and Rodger lived in Lawton, Oklahoma while Rodger was in bootcamp. After his time in the military, they moved to Santaquin, where they raised their children. After Rodger passed away, Loraine moved to northern Utah County to be closer to her son and daughter, as well as her brothers and sisters. She lived in Orem, Lehi and Pleasant Grove.
Loraine enjoyed anything to do with art, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Loraine was a caretaker, always willing to help whenever and wherever she could. She would give and never expect anything in return.
She is survived by her children, Kacie Irene Barney of Santaquin; Dusty Josh and Jaelyn Barney of Pleasant Grove; 6 grandchildren; siblings: Mavis Brown of American Fork; Ellen and Tom Kirk of Tempe, Arizona; John Laursen of Murray; Bill and Barbara Laursen of Payson and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and a sister, Dyanne Carter.
As per her wishes, there will not be any public services. She would only ask that you take time to hug a loved one and remember how important family can be. There will be a private family celebration of her life in the spring and her ashes will be buried in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
