Carma D Bott Jones

Jul 21, 2025

1936 - 2025

Carma D Bott Jones, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at her daughter’s home in Springville, Utah, on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, parents and daughter. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, friend and neighbor.

She was born in Provo, Utah, September 21, 1936, the daughter of LeRoy Viggo and Mabel Dennis Bott. She was raised in Provo in a loving and extensive family, with many uncles, aunts and cousins. She attended Provo schools and graduated from Provo High School in 1954.

In 1950 she met her future husband, Rex Lynn Jones, in Pioneer Park in Provo, Utah and they started dating. Rex said that he didn’t get a chance to ask her to marry him. Instead, her mother, Mabel asked them when they were going to get married. He was home on leave from the Navy, at the time, and they were married on March 27, 1954, at the home of her parents, before he had to return to active duty. On April 2, 1970, they were sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Manti Utah Temple.

Carma worked for many years as the lunchroom manager at Farrer and later Dixon Jr. High schools in Provo. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and in later years especially enjoyed camping at Fish Lake and Boulder Mountain with Wayne and Margene Snow.

Carma was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She especially enjoyed serving in the young women’s organization. She supported Rex as he served as a bishop and a counselor in the stake presidency. She especially enjoyed their years together while Rex served as the executive secretary to four presidents at the Missionary Training Center. She and Rex later served a two-year service mission at the Provo Tabernacle. However, her greatest callings were Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

Carma is survived by a son, Dennis Lynn (Suanne) Jones, Mapleton, Utah and a daughter, Carrie Lee (John) Benefiel, Springville, Utah. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Helen Dorene Wardle, her parents, and a brother, Joseph LeRoy Bott.
