Kathryn Thomas

Jun 9, 2025

Our dear daughter, sister, aunt, and friend completed her earthly journey on June 2, 2025.

Kathryn was born March 7, 1956, in Provo, Utah to Edwin “Ted” and Florice Hjorth Thomas.

She lived in Orem most of her life. She attended Geneva Elementary School, Orem Junior High, and Orem High School. She is still friends with many people from her early childhood.

After High School she had the opportunity to participate in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Making the trip to and from New York on buses with other cast mates. It had a lasting impact on her life. She went back repeatedly to see the pageant with friends and family. She moved to Provo and attended BYU and worked at the BYU library.

In 1981 she was called and faithfully served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the New York, Rochester Mission. Deepening her connection with upstate New York, the people she met and the church history that occurred there.

She was one of the first employees at what became Word Perfect. Often people comment, “She was my trainer at Word Perfect.” Between her time at Word Perfect and later at NuSkin, she was able to travel the world. Between her professional and personal travels, she was able to see so many wonderful places and meet even more wonderful people.

She had many nieces and nephews that she took an active role in raising. That love continued to the children of those nieces and nephews. We are sure that she is sharing her love will all the babies that didn’t make it to earth and the babies we have yet to welcome to our family.

Kathryn had the kindest and most giving heart. She loved people and would help anytime she saw a need. Everyone was an automatic friend. She used her talents to bring light, love, and comfort to anyone she met. She was an easy friend and missionary all her life. When she moved into Sunridge Assisted Living, she found a whole new way to continue ministering and sharing her testimony with her friendship and service.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, which she took a significant role in helping to care for them at the end of their lives. Also graduating from this life before her were some of her niece and nephews: Sydney Thomas, Cary Stringfellow and Samuel McKinzie McCoy.

She had many titles in her life. One of which was Sister to Terry and Kelly, Natalie, Dana and Blaine, Melissa and Rick, & Vaughn and Cari. She was also known as Beloved Aunt to her nieces and nephews, who know they were ALL her favorite. And all her cousins, friends, and ward members she called her Family!

We will miss her daily and know we will have a joyous reunion in the future.

Thank you for any and all help, prayers, thoughts and support from all of you!

Friends and family are invited to Kathryn’s viewing, Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 6 -8 pm and Friday, June 13 from 10:30-11:30 am, at the church on 1485 North 800 West, Orem. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
