Jun 18, 2025

1942 – 2025

Robert Griffith Ream passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2025. He was born on March 27, 1942 in Glendale, California to Paul and Cleo Ream. The family moved back to Utah when he was 2. He grew up in West Provo, working in the family business, riding his bike and horse all over Provo, and fishing on Utah Lake. He excelled in any sport he played. He was an amazing athlete. He graduated from BY High (now the Provo Library) and Brigham Young University. He then joined the Coast Guard where he played the trumpet in the band and found out he got seasick. He served an LDS Mission in Germany, where he learned to love the language, the country and the people and went back several times in his life.

He married Jewel Cook on April 6, 1965 in the Manti Temple. Together they owned and operated The Colony Apartments in Provo ( a great place to teach your kids how to work). He also started the first and original “Ream’s Wrangler Shop” in the turtle store in Provo. He finally gave in to Jewel’s dream of owning property and moved from Provo to Mapleton where they raised their 6 children and taught them how to work and play hard. He loved to go boating and the favorite family trips were to Lake Powell on the ole’ Sea Ray. They divorced in 1999. He married Helen Ng on August 31, 2000. They later divorced.

He loved new cars and loved to drive. He was never without a white Toyota truck, but Volkswagens had his heart. He logged thousands and thousands of miles all over the country, visiting most of the National Parks. He loved to travel, he enjoyed the beauty in the world, and he loved to soak in his hot tub/swim spa at his home with the view of beautiful Maple Mountain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marian Ream, and brother, Dan Ream. He is survived by brother, Lance Ream; children, Mary Kaye (Chad) Spencer, Paul Ream, Amberly (Cliff) Brimhall, Jason (Pernille) Ream, SaraAnn (Corey) Patterson, and Jake Ream; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. The family will receive friends at the mortuary, Friday, June 20 from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, from 10-10:45 prior to funeral services. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
