Mar 18, 2025

1952 – 2025

Michael Leon Hatch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, returned to his heavenly home on March 9, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on August 1, 1952, in Provo, Utah, to Shirley Rowland and Henson Leon Hatch, Michael spent his life in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where he built a legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and community. Michael’s journey led him to St. George, where he attended Dixie State University. He married Sherri Green, with whom he had three children, and later found the love of his life, Electa. They met in August of 1989 and married on June 21, 1991, blending their families and welcoming seven more children into his heart. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family, including 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Michael had a strong work ethic. He grew up working on a farm and spent 20 years as a steelworker at Geneva before transitioning to a career in sales, working at Gene Harvey Chevrolet for a decade and later at doTERRA for three years. Outside of work, he found happiness in life’s adventures–boating at Lake Powell, hunting and fishing, playing golf, farming and riding his RZR. Sports were a passion of his, and his legacy as an athlete endures as he still holds the pole-vaulting record at Pleasant Grove High School. A dedicated member of his community, Michael served for years on the board of Tri-City Golf Course and as the president of the Pleasant Grove Little League Baseball program, where he made a lasting impact on countless young athletes. His commitment to the children he coached and mentored was unwavering, and his influence extended beyond the field as he ran for public office to further serve the people of Pleasant Grove. Faith was a guiding force in Michael’s life. He was sealed to Electa in Mt. Timpanogos temple on December 21, 2012, and found great fulfillment in temple work. His infectious smile, kindness, and unwavering positivity defined him, even through life’s challenges. In 2014, Michael received the precious gift of a lung transplant, allowing him ten more cherished years with his loved ones. He embraced each day with gratitude and joy, never allowing adversity to dim his light. His resilience, warmth, and love for others made him someone who was truly unforgettable. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathy Lynn, his brother Donald Leland, his son Clark Gipson, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Electa; nine children, Adrianne (Jeff) Beasley, Rebecca (Paul) Hyland, Jason (Krista) Hatch, Heather Gipson, Austin Gipson, Kerrie Hatch, Jacob (Samantha) Gipson, Kathryn (Paul) Sardoch, and Dustan (Beth) Hatch; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Janice Messersmith. Michael will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, service, and strength will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Northfield Sixth Ward Chapel, 408 West 1300 North, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening, March 21, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 – 10:45 AM prior to funeral services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
