Lester Deuel Campbell

Lester Deuel Campbell, 80, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to David Odell and Leah Harker Campbell, Lester was a devoted husband, father, teacher, and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served a mission in the Western Canadian Mission (1959-1961) and later with his wife, Linda, in the Provo Utah Mission (2009-2010). He earned degrees from San Bernardino Community College and BYU (1974), including a Master’s degree.

Lester taught seminary and institute for decades with CES, including assignments in Utah Valley and at Liahona High School in Tonga. He also worked with FARMS, dedicating his life to gospel education. He spent time serving on the Orem Planning Commission and Orem City Council. (1998-2007)

He loved gardening, rock collecting, woodturning, and BYU football–holding season tickets for over 35 years. Above all, he cherished his family, faith, and teaching.

He is survived by children Aaron (Lauren), Laura, Spencer (Stephanie), and Megan (John Carter); sisters Rose (Doug) Hanson and Bonnie (Dale) Romrell; 14 grandchildren; and many loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, daughter Holly Ann, granddaughter Victoria, and nine siblings.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 16th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary 495 S State St, Orem, UT 84058.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17th at 50 S. 750 W, Orem Utah 84058 beginning at 11:00am with a viewing from 9:30-10:30.
