Robert Dale “Bob” Durrans
Robert Dale “Bob” Durrans, age 95 of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025. He was born July 9,1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ross Inman Durrans and Clea Merle Reynolds. He married Ruth Leone Rose in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 5, 1953.
As a youth growing up in rural Idaho, he excelled in playing sports, fishing, singing, theater, and learned to work hard on the farm.
He graduated from Ashton High School, served in the Idaho National Guard, and attended Ricks College. Following his first mission to Sweden, he met and married Ruth while at BYU.
A long career in banking provided for his family in both Southern California and eventually back to Utah with Central Bank in Provo. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family, and yearly camping trips to Shaver Lake spawned the family love of boating. He served faithfully in many callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Ruth served in Sweden twice, in the mission office and as a Counselor in the Stockholm Temple Presidency. He spent thousands of hours doing family history work.
He loved his family, and no one escaped his teasing and jokes.
Bob is survived by his wife Ruth Rose Durrans; three children: Kathleen (Brad) Whitaker; Sherilynn (Kim) Butler; and Robert Guy (Kathy) Durrans and siblings Barbara Durrans Christy, Raymond (SuSann) Durrans, and sisters-in-law Shirley Durrans and Verlene Durrans.
