Gordon Daniels Brown
February 11, 1939 April 2, 2026
Gordon Daniels Brown passed away peacefully on the eve of Good Friday, April 2, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by service, leadership, and deep devotion to family and faith.
Born in Ogden, Utah, Gordon graduated from Weber High School in 1957 and served as a missionary in the Eastern States Mission before pursuing his education. He earned his M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine and served as a Lieutenant Commander and physician aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Chase during the Vietnam War. He practiced as an Interventional Radiologist at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo for 32 years.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in three bishoprics, as a BYU Stake President, and alongside his wife Pat as Mission President of the Illinois Chicago Mission (20012004) and at the Provo Missionary Training Center (20112013).
Known as “Gordy” to those who loved him, he was a man who knew how to live well — an avid golfer and skier, a loyal BYU Cougar and Utah Jazz fan, a devoted gardener, and a generous host famous for his waffle breakfasts. He cherished his family above all.
Gordon is survived by his wife, V. Patricia (Pat) Howes Brown; children Dell and Kristin Brown, Andrea and Kevin Motto, Anthony and Sarah Brown, and Matthew Brown and Karen Dursteler; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
