William Larry Ashby

William Larry Ashby, 86, of Provo, Utah, passed away on April 20, 2026. Born in Salt Lake City on June 20, 1939, Larry grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and spent his summers in Delta, Utah.
Larry attended Camelback High School, Brigham Young University and Arizona State University. He spent over 35 years with New York Life Insurance Company, known for his care for others.
Larry served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay and Paraguay. Throughout his life, he served in many callings in the church. Later, he and his wife Pat were service missionaries.
Larry had a gift for connecting with people wherever he went. He loved BYU sports, music, travel, visiting Lake Powell with his family, and most of all, his wife Patricia Petersen Ashby. Married in the Logan Utah Temple in 1963, they shared 62 years of life and partnership.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia; his sister, Margaret (Grant Worth); and his children: Steven (Trinka), Sandy (Mitch Wight), Mark (Tamra), Paul (Stephanie), and David (Rachell). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 14 greatâ€â€™grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Richard and Kenneth; and his granddaughter, Sophee.
