Elaine had an extraordinary entrance into this mortal life. On a cold and stormy night in Idaho, Elaine’s parents were on their way to the hospital when their car got stuck in the mud. Her father went to seek help but when he came back, his wife had given birth in the car to a beautiful girl they named Elaine.

Elaine was born on February 23, 1941 and was the third child born to Charles Eugene and Mary Eva Burke. She came from a large family and had eight brothers and sisters. Since she was the oldest daughter, she had a lot of responsibilities at a young age growing up on a farm in Shelley, Idaho.

She graduated from Shelley High School and received her Junior College Diploma from Ricks College. She met Robert Lynn Park and was married soon after in the Idaho Falls Temple where they were sealed for time and eternity.

The next chapter as a married couple took them to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, U.S. Territory for 3 years where her husband was employed. During their stay in St. Croix, they started their family and welcomed two children.

In 1965, Robert accepted a teaching position at Brigham Young University. They moved their young family to Provo, Utah where four more children were born to them. They raised six children and had many happy memories.

She and Bob served in a church calling at the Utah State Hospital for many years and enjoyed the experiences they had there. She also worked part time at the B.Y.U. bookstore for eight years and enjoyed it very much. After Robert retired, he and Elaine served a mission in the Texas Houston South Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Throughout Elaine’s life, she loved embroidery and made many beautiful tablecloths. She also loved to read and had a sizeable collection of books.

She served in many positions in the church, had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and always tried to follow the promptings she felt from the Holy Ghost.

She will be missed but we are comforted knowing that we will see her again. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Eugene and Eva Burke, brothers Wesley, Roy, Wallace, Jay and Duane. She is survived by two sisters, Nona Thompson (Larry), Anita Thompson and one brother, Glenn Burke (Diana), her children Richard Park, Rhonda Uber (Greg), Rita Hafner, Roxanne Ohran (David), Raquel Moss (John) and Elizabeth Wilkinson (Rob), 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the Symbii Home Health and Hospice and Legacy Village where many individuals cared for her during these last months of her life.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview 13th Ward, 1260 West 1150 North, Provo, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, August 7th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and prior to services on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.. Interment in East Lawn Memorial Hills, 4800 North 650 East, Provo, Utah.
