With profound sadness and hearts full of cherished memories, we announce the passing of Steven Maurice Prescott, who departed this life on August 2, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 26, 1951, Steven’s journey through life was one distinguished by devotion, generosity, and a steadfast faith that touched all those who had the privilege to know him.

A graduate of Orem High School and Brigham Young University, Steven embraced every opportunity for growth and learning. His drive and commitment eventually led him to serve as CEO of a construction company. True to his roots, he also found immense satisfaction tending to his beloved farm. Steven’s love for the land shone through in everything he did, from caring for cattle to nurturing lush gardens. The fields and open spaces were often his sanctuary, where he could be found working, reflecting, or savoring the beauty of a well-earned harvest.

Steven’s devotion extended far beyond his professional and personal undertakings. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he dedicated himself to service in all its forms. He served faithfully as a bishop, particularly guiding and inspiring the youth, and held various other church responsibilities through the years. One of his most formative experiences came as a young man serving a mission in the Texas South Mission from 1970 to 1972. These experiences shaped the spiritual core of a man whose faith never wavered, and whose integrity was visible in the quiet, consistent ways he served others.

Those who knew Steven remember his kindness and his sense of humor–qualities that made gatherings with him both comforting and lively. His laughter filled rooms, and his patient generosity provided support in times of need. Whether shooting hoops, watching a football game, hiking mountain trails, or sharing a story around the kitchen table, Steven radiated warmth and joy. He loved the outdoors, the thrill of the hunt, and the peace found in nature’s embrace.

Steven’s legacy is woven through the generations that follow him–in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the examples he set. Though words may pale beside the magnitude of his impact, his presence endures in the lives of his family and all who were fortunate to call him a friend.

Steven’s greatest fulfillment was found in the company of his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Prescott, who stood by his side as the anchor of his days and the confidante of his heart. Together, they cultivated a strong and loving family, raising four remarkable children: Jess Prescott, Amy Vaden, Becky Prescott, and Ashley Orchard. Steven was a proud brother to Brad Prescott, Beverly Day, Betty Rowley, and Jennifer Walkhorst–a family bound together not just by blood but by love, laughter, and shared memories beneath the wide-open skies he so adored. His life was further illuminated by the presence of many grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart and who will forever treasure fond memories of time spent with their grandpa.

Preceded in death by his dear parents, Maurice and Thora Prescott, Steven honored their legacy by carrying forward the values they instilled–hard work, kindness, and unwavering steadfastness in faith and family.

As we remember Steven Maurice Prescott, we celebrate a life well lived–full of faith, humor, and a love that knew no bounds. May his memory continue to inspire kindness, laughter, and devotion in us all.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Santaquin 1st Ward. 545 North 200 East, Santaquin, UT. Friends may visit with family on Friday prior to service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
