Joseph Allen Francis Sr. passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, surrounded by his children and his wife of 62 years, Elaine.

Joe was born December 24, 1941 in Payson, Utah to Allen Archibald and Margaret Ann Hill Francis. Joe had two older sisters, Jane Ann (Cliff Bissell) and Colleen (Steve Kennison), and two younger sisters, Camille (Mike Nielsen) and Julie (Boyd Olsen). He served a fill-time LDS mission in Scotland from 1961 to 1963.

Joe married his sweetheart Elaine Mohlman on July 10, 1964 in the Salt Lake temple. They have four children: Joseph Allen Jr., (Linda Jeffs). Thomas Orson (Debra Luby), Amy Jeanette (Brandon) Peterson, and Mark Richard (Nettie Hunsaker). They have 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, with more expected in the coming years.

Joe graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He worked for the J.C. Penney Company and later for the Davis School District. Even in his management positions, he often spent time fixing, cleaning, and making everywhere he worked a better place. He was known and loved by everyone he met.

Joe loved the outdoors, especially the backroads and beauty Canyonlands National Park. Joe was a dedicated Scouter and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his service to Scouting. Joe served with the Rotary Club of Logan, and as president of the Ogden Lions Club.

Their family theme was “Bloom where you are planted,” and they blossomed wherever they lived, including Orem, Bountiful, North Ogden, Providence, Roy, Syracuse, and Kaysville, Utah. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and two older sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Flint Meadows Ward, 615 Flint Street, Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may visit Thursday August 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main St., Kaysville, Utah and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment will be held at the Kaysville City Cemetery.
