Carol Devitt Thomas

Feb 17, 2026

Carol Devitt Thomas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Born on January 22, 1948, in American Fork, Utah, Carol radiated joy and creativity throughout her vibrant 78 years. She peacefully transitioned from this life on February 13, 2026, surrounded by her family, in Alpine, Utah.

Carol is the cherished daughter of Willard Raymond Devitt and Beth Ellison Devitt, and she carried their values of love and service throughout her life. On June 9, 1966, she married the love of her life, Ernest Krich Thomas, and their union was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on June 25, 1974. Together, they built a beautiful family and created memories that will last forever.

As a talented artist, Carol found joy in her art, scrapbooking and instilled creativity in everyone around her. Her love of sports, particularly baseball, theater, and music, inspired countless joyful moments with family and friends. Carol’s gift as a stylist was evident in her beloved home studio, where she created beauty not just with hair but also through the connections she made with her clients.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carol lived her faith wholeheartedly, nurturing and uplifting those around her with her genuine spirit. She leaves behind her dedicated husband, Ernest, and a vibrant family: children Angie (Danny) Thomas, Jeffery Ernest (Jori) Thomas, Susan (Toby) Adamson, Jill (Jeffery) Austin, and James Devitt (Amy) Thomas. She will also be remembered fondly by her 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and siblings Sharon Rackman, Brent Devitt, Kathleen Millward, Mike Devitt, Russ Devitt, Clint Devitt, and Christine Davis.

Carol is preceded in death by her loving parents, her daughter Tracee’ Neilsen, sister Rebecca Welch, and sweet great-granddaughter Mayble Shannon. Though she may no longer be with us, her legacy of creativity, love, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.

As we celebrate Carol’s life, her funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the American Fork 26th Ward, located at 975 North 60 East. A viewing will take place the evening prior, on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, and again on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the church before the services. She will find her final resting place in the American Fork Cemetery.

Starting at $4.32/week.
