Flora “Torey” Ann Hardy Taylor

Feb 20, 2026

Flora “Torey” Ann Hardy Taylor, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2026, at the age of 81.

Torey was born in San Bernardino, California, to Kenneth and Beverly Hardy and graduated from Colton High School in 1962. She married Newton Alan Taylor on August 12, 1965, in the Oakland Temple. Their marriage was the foundation of a life centered on faith, family, and service.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Torey lived her faith through quiet acts of kindness and service. She served in numerous church callings, including Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary President, and also served as PTA President in her local schools.

She worked for many years at Novell, where she was known for her warmth, reliability, and caring nature. Torey had a rare gift for making people feel remembered and valued. She never forgot a birthday or holiday and was known for her handwritten cards and thoughtful gestures.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, never missing a game, recital, or milestone. She shared especially close relationships with her grandchildren, staying in constant contact through calls, texts, and loving check-ins.

Torey is preceded in death by her husband, Newton Alan Taylor; her parents; her brothers, David Lee Hardy and Charles Richard Hardy; and her nephew, Jeremy Hardy. She is survived by her five children: Roger (Jennifer), Steven (Marta), Cynthia (Jason), Raelene (Preston), and Stephanie (Nathan); her brother Darreld Hardy; her adopted daughter, Ceci Hermann (Steven); 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in May with family and close friends.

Starting at $4.32/week.
