Maurine Curtis Wilcox

Jan 26, 2026

Maurine Curtis Wilcox, 96, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, due to the natural effects of age. She was born April 28, 1929, in Moroni, Utah, to Mable and Neal Curtis.

Maurine spent her entire life in Sanpete County, a place she deeply loved and often said there was no better place to live a life. She had a quick wit, a sharp mind, and loved a good joke. A gifted storyteller, she was also a talented poet and won a poetry contest after she was married-an achievement she rarely spoke of.

Maurine and her husband operated Wilcox Meats, and she later worked for many years at the Mt. Pleasant Pharmacy until her retirement. She lovingly cared for her parents as they aged and found great joy in her church service, particularly in Compassionate Service, helping prepare funeral luncheons. Known for her humility, she often said she ‘didn’t want to be a bother.’

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James (Jim) A. Wilcox; her sister, Vonneal Curtis Madsen (Harvey); and her brother, Neal Jay Curtis (Cleone).

She is survived by her son, Tony James Wilcox, of Maricopa, Arizona, and two grandchildren, Mark Wilcox and Heather Wilcox.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W., Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
