Norman Dee Tanner, age 90, of Mapleton, Utah, passed away January 26, 2026, surrounded by his family at Utah Valley Hospital. He was born October 9, 1935, in Ioka, Utah, to Harriet Pearl Mecham and Francis Marion Tanner.

Norman devoted his life to service, education, and family. He worked for many years in federal civil service, including roles as a soil scientist and later in data processing and information systems security. He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilda; their six children; twenty grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; his brother, Deloy Tanner (Anna Mae); and his sister, Cleora O’Neil. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Arva Marie (Tanner) Redden, and her husband, Boyd.

Viewings will be held Friday, January 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary in Mapleton, 82 West 400 North, Mapleton, Utah, and Saturday, January 31, in Lapoint, Utah (6877 N. 10600 E), from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow from 1:30-2:30 p.m., with graveside services immediately afterward.

As an alternative to flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children’s Hospital or towards Norman and Wilda’s headstone (Venmo annette-warnick-1).
