Trudy was born June 4, 1956, in Denver, Colorado. She was the youngest of two adopted children to Norman and Lillian Batteen. Trudy grew up close to extended family in Chelsea, South Dakota. She developed a great love and appreciation for farm life and made countless memories on the farm. Shortly after joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trudy moved to Utah. It was at the wedding reception of a friend where she met her future husband, Mike Thompson. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, September, 28, 1978. Trudy’s dearest wish to become a mother came true when their son, Justin, was born in 1979.

Trudy spent her life as a homemaker and loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her 4 grandchildren and doted on them with pride. Trudy was an avid reader and a talented pianist. Her home was filled with beautiful music as she consistently worked on composing a piece about the life of Jesus Christ. Her deep love and devotion for her Savior Jesus Christ was reflected in her work.

Trudy is survived by her eternal companion, Mike Thompson; her son Justin (Brittany); her four grandchildren, Zachary, Sara, Elizabeth, and Alexander; and her brother Dixon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman Dixon Batteen and Lillian Geraldine Kingsley.

A memorial service to honor Trudy’s life will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:30 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 270 Harvest Hills Blvd, Saratoga Springs, Utah. A public viewing will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 PM at the Saratoga Springs Cemetery.

Trudy leaves behind a legacy of unfailing faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Her stalwart example and testimony have blessed us all. We love you, Trudy, now and through eternity!
