Melba Gull King
1924 – 2026
Melba Gull King, 101, passed away peacefully at her home in Spanish Fork, Utah, on May 29, 2026, and is now reunited with her husband, Frank. Born December 10, 1924, to Raymond and Margaret Gull, Melba spent her life in the community she cherished. A 1944 Spanish Fork High School graduate and gifted athlete, she later attended Brigham Young University and remained a lifelong learner.
She married Frank George King in the Salt Lake Temple on January 15, 1945. Together they raised five children — George, Ronald, Karolyn, Kevin, and Melba Ann — in Spanish Fork. Melba was known for her warmth, her welcoming home, and her love of people. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and dedicated service in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, the American Legion Auxiliary, and many church callings. Her career included roles at U.S. Steel, Milford Hospital, Spanish Fork High School, Dr. Moody’s office, and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Melba is survived by her children, 23 grandchildren, 83 greatâ€â€™grandchildren, and 3 greatâ€â€™greatâ€â€™grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Ronald, and several other beloved family members.
Visitations will be held Thursday, June 4, from 6-7 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home and Friday, June 5, from 2-2:45 p.m. at the LDS Church at 541 West Center Street, Spanish Fork. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., with interment at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
