Florence Barber
Florence Barber passed away June 8, 2026, at the spry age of 99, just a month shy of her 100th birthday. She wasn’t one to make a fuss about herself, so the family believes this was her final way of saying “no party” in the most Flo way possible. Born on July 17th, 1926, to Costanza Mascaro and Fred Demman. Florence is the youngest of 18 children.
Florence dedicated her life to her family, whom she raised in Orem, Utah. They were her greatest joy and her greatest achievement, she said as much, frequently. Her love for her boys was visible to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband – Sam Barber Sr., and her son – Sam Barber Jr.
She leaves behind to celebrate her life (3) three loving sons: Chuck (daughter-in-law Melanie), Fred, and John (daughter-in-law Mitzi), and daughter-in-law Shari Barber. Flo was delighted by her 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and the full life she created surrounded by friends who became family.
Florence will be remembered for her spunky personality, her height of 4 feet 6 never seemed to slow her down, and her laughter that could light up any room. Her family will never forget her “honesty” even when she was pointing that crooked finger at you and telling you that your life choices were wrong. She had strong opinions but never abandoned those she loved most. She made her feelings known, loudly, but would still fight with anyone she loved through any journey they faced, even if she did not agree. To know Florence was to love her and feel her love for the Lord and others fiercely. She showed us all how to be the most genuine version of ourselves possible and that legacy will live on through her family and friends.
