Rosalie Joan Mackay, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher, passed away on June 23, 2026.

Rosalie was born August 24, 1939, in Sugar City, Idaho. She was a diligent and hard-working individual all her life. Rosalie grew up on the family farm driving tractors, hoeing beets, and milking cows. After graduating from high school, she worked her way through two years of schooling at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Rosalie served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida before finishing her degree in History at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Rosalie was born to be a teacher. It was her life’s passion and working with students brought her great joy. Her whole career was spent teaching in Provo schools. Her first position was at Farrer Junior High School before she joined the faculty at Timpview High School. She enjoyed teaching Advanced Placement U. S. History and Government. Rosalie found great satisfaction in helping students recognize their potential for success.

Rosalie enjoyed traveling and learning about the history and culture of other parts of the world. She particularly enjoyed visiting Europe, Asia, Hawaii, and taking a cruise to Alaska.

Rosalie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for her entire life, and she served in many callings in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. Rosalie was dedicated to genealogy and shared the importance of temple work with her family.

Rosalie will always be remembered for her thoughtful kindness, her commitment to lifelong learning, her fastidious note-taking, her love of reading and puzzles, and her dedication to family and friends.

A memorial for Rosalie will be held on Monday, June 29, at 11 am in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward Building at 2445 N 650 E (Timpview Dr), Provo, Utah.
