Linda Beck
1942 – 2026
Linda Beck, wife of Merrill C. Beck, passed away March 14, 2026, at her home. She was born July 6, 1942, to Elvin and Leatha Carson. She lived in Fairfield and Pleasant Grove, Utah, until she met and married Merrill, moved to American Fork, and spent the remainder of her life. Linda loved her family and her heritage. She was proud of her ancestors who joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1830s and loved learning about her heritage and doing family history work for them.
Merrill and Linda were blessed with six children whom she loved and felt so honored to have: Jeff (DeLayna), Shiree (Dean), Debbie (Dale), Steve (Shauna), Linn (Karen) and Susan (Justin). The focus and joy of her life was her family, including 32 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. She enjoyed many trips and outings with her family and extended family. Holidays and family traditions were very important to her both as a child and an adult.
Linda was talented in many areas. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was a gifted seamstress and sewed and created beautiful things for her home. If she did not know how to do something, she would learn how and make it happen. Her passion was antiques; her home is filled with things she has preserved from her ancestors. Linda loved to be busy and she always had a project which usually involved re-painting, re-doing and restoring things to make them better. One of her projects was her “She-Shed,” which was a greenhouse Merrill had built for her. Because she could not bear to tear it down, she restored it and it became a place for her family gatherings.
Linda was a hard worker and taught us all the value of hard work by example. She never stopped working and you would often see her riding around in her “putt-putt” pulling weeds, trimming bushes, and planting flowers. Even when she was in so much pain, keeping her yard beautiful and her home immaculate and smelling good was always a priority.
Linda loved to read and learn. She loved history and especially church history. She had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel. She enjoyed her church callings including stake, ward and missions. Her favorite calling was when she served a proselyting mission to Atlanta, Georgia with Merrill. She also loved attending the temple as both an ordinance worker and a patron. She always bore testimony of her love for the Savior and His church whether it was in her gifts to her family at Christmas, her little devotionals at family gatherings or when her family came to visit every Sunday on the “porch”.
She is preceded in death by her husband Merrill, her great-grandson Easton, her parents Elvin and Leatha Carson and her siblings Ronald, Gary, Darlene, Darrel and Gene and numerous extended family and friends.
Linda left behind a legacy of love, faith, devotion and family. She will be sorely missed, but her family takes comfort knowing she is surrounded by her loved ones and free of the pain she felt in her mortal life.
The family would like to express gratitude to ICare Hospice, especially Kristy, who so lovingly helped in her care the last week of her life.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21st at 12:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1305 North 100 East, American Fork, Utah, where A Visitation will be held prior from 10:30 to 12:00 pm at the same location. Interment will take place in the American Fork City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Utah Valley Mortuary of Lindon, Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family at utahvalleymortuary.com.
