Darlene Candland Wasden
Darlene (Dar, Mom, Grandma Dar) Candland Wasden, born May 24, 1936, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 3rd, 2026, after spending a lovely day with family.
Darlene was born and raised in Chester, UT on a farm with her two sisters. Working on a farm at a young age taught Darlene the value of hard work and was a major part of her developing a resilient, tenacious spirit. Darlene was always proud of her Sanpete County heritage.
Darlene moved to Salt Lake City in her latter teen years and worked at the church office building for a few years, which she thoroughly enjoyed. It was during this time that she met, dated and eventually married Delmar Wasden on June 4, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised five children. After over 25 years of marriage, they later divorced.
Darlene was a busy stay-at-home mom when the children were young. She was able to manage a household of five children with busy schedules, a number of pets and was known for cooking delicious meals. As the children became more self-sufficient, Darlene became a successful and well-loved Avon Lady and developed a great number of clients and friendships from that experience. After many years with Avon, Darlene began working at schools in the Alpine School District in Orem. She had a deep love of reading and was able to help students drastically improve their reading skills.
Darlene was always extremely active, enjoying skiing in her younger years and walking, hiking and biking throughout her adult years. She had a passion for gardening and caring for animals. Cats were always positive companions throughout her life and brought her great comfort and joy. She loved to attend reading symposiums in her adult years and she had a large, loving and loyal friend group, who were active in attending shows, making crafts and reading great books together.
Darlene also enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren every 4th of July and looked forward to attending the Provo parade with them every year.
Darlene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and willingly served in many callings. She often shared her testimony and love for the gospel and her Heavenly Father.
Darlene is survived by her five children: Mark (Annélisa), Nathan (Georgia), Megan (Rod), Judd, Tara (Cliff), 12 grandchildren and nine great grand-children.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 10th 2026 at 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at: 365 S 900 E, Orem, UT 94097. Interment will be in the Ephraim, Utah cemetery.
