Lenard Flygare

Oct 28, 2026

Orem — Lenard Bruce Flygare passed away on October 25, 2026, in Provo, Utah. He was born on August 15, 1946, in Provo to John William and Flora Hooley Flygare. He was raised in Orem and graduated from Orem High School.

After serving a mission in parts of Arizona and California, Bruce married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Sims, on December 27, 1967, in the Manti Temple. During their more than 54 years of marriage, Bruce and Kathleen took great care of each other, especially in their later years. They first lived in San Diego while Bruce served in the Navy, then moved to Payson before eventually settling in Orem, Utah. Together, they raised four children: Lonny, Holly, Tami, and Brady.

Bruce graduated from Utah Technical College, now Utah Valley University, with an associate’s degree. He spent the majority of his working career at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and was Director of the Mechanical Engineering Department for Intermountain Health Care when he retired.

Bruce had a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed his time racing in rodeos, hunting, jeeping and four wheeling. He was a hard worker that always enjoyed volunteering to load up his trailer for anyone that needed it.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bruce served in many callings. He loved serving others, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bruce is survived by his daughters, Holly (Dave) Gardner and Tami (Shane) Clevenger; his son, Brady (Brook) Flygare; eighteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Kay (Sharie) Flygare, Dean (Cheryl) Flygare, Morris (Paula) Flygare, and David (Wendy) Flygare. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathleen; his son, Lonny (Lisa Sirrine) Flygare; and his parents, John and Flora.

His family would like to thank all the medical staff who cared for Bruce throughout the past few years. We would also like to thank our parents’ LDS ward members, friends, and neighbors for the love, care, and time they devoted to visiting and supporting both Bruce and Kathleen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31st with the viewing starting at 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM and memorial service will be at 11:00 AM at the Northridge 14th ward LDS church house located at 1875 North 280 West in Orem, Utah.
