Seth Seymour Ellsworth
Seth Seymour Ellsworth, formerly of Spring City and husband of Terrilyn Peterson, of Moroni, passed away July 24, 2026, in St George, Utah. While he and his family were in Cedar City enjoying their annual family trip to the Shakespeare Festival, Seth took ill and passed away after complications from emergency colectomy surgery.
Seth was born in Pomona, Ca., September 8, 1978, to Patricia Holladay and Evan Seymour Ellsworth. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Terri, his mother, Pat, brother, Heber James, and sister, Rachel (Lee) Whittaker, and children: Blue, Shara, and Trisha.
As a child, Seth patiently asked questions and waited quietly for answers, even after the third asking. He liked taking things apart to see how they worked. The parts of two metronomes and a number of cassette players were well known to him. Getting them back together was his dad’s job.
He taught himself to read and was an avid reader. He devoured the Childcraft How and Why Library as a child. Besides being inquisitive, he was noted for his quiet and kind personality. He made friends easily. His favorite childhood pal, Steven Heumann, author and founder of Super Heumann Creative, remained a friend into his adult years. The tragic death in 2018 of his climbing partner and close high school friend, Gabe Crowther, known as Aagard, was devastating to him.
Seth and his high school sweetheart were married in 2000 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After living in a variety of places, the family settled down in Orem. He worked at Intel and returned to college with the encouragement of his superiors. He later obtained a position at Vintela, which became Quest Software. He became lead customer service consultant. At the time of his passing, he had worked for them for over 20 years.
Seth, Terri, and children enjoyed camping and visiting historical sites, and being at their home with extended family and friends for birthdays, graduations, holidays, cheese tasting parties, and Celtic celebrations.
A year ago, Seth and Terri celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a Vow Renewal Ceremony.
A Celebration of Seth’s Life will be held Saturday, September 5th from 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. in the LDS church cultural hall at the corner of 400 North and 400 East, Orem, Utah. Those coming from distances are invited to attend with the family a luncheon of Seth’s favorite food, Mexican BBQ, at 1:00 P.M. Visiting with family and sharing of thoughts and memories of Seth will begin at 2:30 P.M. with light refreshments.
