Linda was born on May 26, 1948, at Long Beach, California. Her father was George A. Sherman, a decorated World War II army veteran, and her mother was Vivian Rencher from New Harmony, Utah, and the daughter of a southern Utah cattle rancher. Linda was the oldest of the four children born to George and Vivian. After her birth, her father began a chicken farm producing eggs in Bellflower, California. When the farm outgrew its location in Bellflower, the family relocated to Norwalk, California, along with the chicken farm.

Linda attended public schools in Norwalk: New River Elementary School, Corvallis Junior High (middle) School, and Norwalk High School. She also attended business-related classes at Cerritos Community College in Norwalk.

After graduating from Norwalk High School in 1966, Linda worked in the office of a car dealership and as an office worker and switchboard operator for SCM Business Machines.

When Linda was about 9 years old her father hired Joseph (Joe) Fox to work on the chicken farm. Joe was about 13 years old and worked after school and weekends gathering the eggs and assisting Vivian sorting and packing the eggs. At that time the farm had about 12,000 laying hens and pullets, young chickens that had not yet started laying eggs. Joe worked on the farm until it went out of business when Linda was about 15 years old. Because her mother was busy overseeing the egg processing of the farm, Linda was required to tend her younger sister and assist in the preparation of dinner for her family.

While Linda was going to high school, Joe served a mission in southern Brazil and attended Cerritos College. Joe was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 and served for 2 years.

Linda and Joe dated occasionally then started dating seriously in the summer of 1973, as he was preparing to graduate from college. Linda and Joe were married in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, on March 30, 1974. Linda and Joe were married for 52 years.

Linda and Joe lived in Norwalk. While living in Norwalk, Linda gave birth to a son, Steven M. Fox, on April 6, 1976. Linda and Joe then moved to La Vern, California. While living in La Vern, Linda gave birth to a son, Craig A. Fox, on February 22, 1980, and a daughter, Sandra L. Fox, on March 2, 1981. After Sandra’s birth, Linda and her family moved to Sandy, Utah. While living in Sandy, Linda gave birth to a daughter Suzanne M. Fox, on July 16, 1982; a son, Daniel S Fox, on January 8, 1984, and a daughter Sharlene J. Fox, on April 16, 1985.

After Sharlene’s birth, in 1985, Linda and her family moved to Spanish Fork, Utah. While in Spanish Fork, Linda worked at ZCMI at the Orem Utah Mall, the BYU bookstore, the LDS clothing store in Spanish Fork, and as a lunch worker at the Spanish Fork Middle School.

While living in Spanish Fork, Linda attended classes at BYU and at Utah Valley Community College. With her daughter Sharlene, Linda enrolled in the Pathway Program through BYU Idaho. Linda received her associate’s degree in general studies from BYU Idaho.

Linda was a lifelong active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many teaching and administrative positions. She served two stake missions in California and Utah; she was a diligent visiting teacher, and a seminary graduate.

Linda is survived by her husband Joseph (Joe) Roy Fox, their six children: Steven (Brittany) Fox, Craig (Monica) Fox, Sandra Fox, Suzanne (Dave) Schmitt, Daniel (Moira) Fox, Sharlene (Clint) Hales, 18 grandchildren, and her three siblings: Chris (Jane) Sherman, Lewis (Janine) Sherman, and Laura Stowell.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday September 16, 2026, at the Third Ward Church Building 585 North Main Street, Spanish Fork. Viewing from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Funeral Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery. A Luncheon will be provided for Family and Friends.
