EPHRAIM – In a remarkable genealogical discovery, Lewis “Rawlin” Bagnall, III, and Dana Bagnall, a married couple from Ephraim, have learned that they are 14th cousins. Not only are they cousins, but their lineage also connects them to the late Princess Diana and the newly appointed King Charles. Their recent trip to the United Kingdom had dual purposes – Dana’s presentation at Cambridge University and the chance to walk in the footsteps of their ancestors.
Dana, a prominent certified holistic health and wellness practitioner and coach, was invited to present her academic paper at King’s College, Cambridge University, one of the world’s premier academic institutions. The research conference drew participants and delegates from around the globe, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, France, India, Iran and more.
Arriving in London on May 6, the same day as King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation, the couple witnessed the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace and explored Westminster Abbey, although they couldn’t attend the royal ceremony.
Dana’s presentation delved into the intricacies of overcoming stress, offering valuable insights and inspiring attendees to embrace three simple ideas for improving their well-being. Her practice, “Making a Difference Because You Matter,” employs a non-invasive, holistic, and bioenergetic model with evidence-based tools to help clients address underlying challenges and lead healthy, purposeful, and peaceful lives. The presentation proved intellectually stimulating.
Following the conference, Rawlin and Dana embarked on a journey across the United Kingdom, intending to explore their ancestral village, Bagnall Village. Rawlin expressed his disbelief, saying, “This feels surreal. I read about our family village over a decade ago. To visit our ancestral site due to my wife’s profession and then discover our connection through Family Search and Roots Tech is astounding. Our ancestors, a married couple from the 1500s, have brought us here. We’ve seen Bagnall Road countless times on Google, but physically walking down Bagnall Road and interacting with the locals of Bagnall Village was an indescribable experience. It felt like a dream come true.”
Their UK adventures yielded significant takeaways. Dana Bagnall was honored with the “Eminent Speaker” award from Global Research Conferences for her invaluable contributions to the conference and has been invited to speak at Oxford University. Rawlin Bagnall announced his upcoming book, stemming from his graduate research, which explores the impact of women on society and aims to reshape the narrative. Tentatively titled “White Spacing Sara’s Discourse: Informing Patriarchal Discourse,” the book will share empowering stories to inspire women to embrace their true selves and contribute to society.
When asked about their journey, the Bagnalls shared that the phrase “it’s a small world” now holds a personal significance for them. They encourage everyone to “Take Your Pulse” and listen to their hearts, as it can lead to a profound sense of peace, joy, and love. Dana Bagnall believes that by doing so, individuals may witness their lives unfolding in unimaginable ways, guided not by the mind but by the soul.
