Eleven athletes represented the Sanpete club at the 2024 Utah State High School Rodeo Finals, which took place at the Wasatch County Events Complex in Heber earlier this month.

It was the culmination of a year’s worth of competition in high school rodeo, highlighting some impressive achievements.

Leading the way was Bailey Denton, who won the state championship in the girls cutting competition with 108 points.

Sanpete’s best all-around performance came from Audrey Tree, who finished fifth. She was second in girls cutting, seventh in reined cow horse and also competed in the barrel racing.

Austin Denton ended up fourth in the state and Cruz Vergara was eighth in the boys cutting, while Hagen Nielson ended up ninth in the bareback riding.

Other competitors included Brenna Brotherson (barrel racing/pole bending), Ellie Stephensen (barrel racing/breakaway roping), Kortlyn Brotherson (breakaway roping/barrel racing), Kadience Allred (barrel racing), McKrey Perry (team roping) and Cru Perry (team roping/tiedown roping).

Bailey Denton, Audrey Tree and Austin Denton all earned the right to represent the state of Utah at the national high school rodeo finals, which will take place in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in July.
