North Bend Entertainers share local holiday spirit with ‘A Christmas Card’
FAIRVIEW — If you’re looking for a heartwarming way to kick off the holiday season, North Bend Entertainers has just the ticket. Their latest holiday production, “A Christmas Card,” combines live bluegrass music with an original one-act country musical, making for an unforgettable family experience.
Based on a true story, “A Christmas Card” is set in Depression-era Delta, Utah. The plot follows 10-year-old Mildred Robison, played by Penny Bailey, who grows disillusioned after realizing her modest life is far removed from the grandeur depicted on a Victorian Christmas card. But an unexpected discovery on Christmas Eve changes everything, filling her heart with the true spirit of the season.
A Homegrown Cast and Crew
The production features a talented local cast, including:
- Kevin Gunnell as Daddy Robison
- Tanya Carney as Mama Robison
- Penny Bailey as Mildred
- Sophia Johnson and Lily Smith as Mildred’s older sisters
- Dallin Heftel and Tyson Smith as the sisters’ boyfriends
- Summer Johnson as a sheepherder’s wife
The entire cast hails from nearby communities, including Fairview, Mt. Pleasant, Hideaway Valley, and Fountain Green, making this a truly local celebration of talent.
The musical is based on a story by Mildred Robison Stutz, a Central Utah native. The original script and music were written by Kevin and Khaliel Kelly of Oak Creek, with Hillary Smith from Fairview serving as associate director. Kevin Kelly also composed the musical’s original songs and lyrics.
An evening of music and merriment
