Sanpete Food Pantry hosts festive FUNdraisers this holiday season

By Staff | Nov 27, 2024

• Christmas Caroling in front of Wal-Mart rings in the season beginning on Black Friday November 29 and continuing until Christmas.

As the holiday spirit fills the air, the Sanpete Food Pantry is bringing the community together with a series of joyful events designed to help neighbors in need. With a range of activities–from caroling to galas–there’s no shortage of ways for residents to join the fun while supporting a good cause.

The Sanpete Food Pantry aims to raise funds and awareness about food insecurity in the region by partnering with local businesses and volunteers. Here’s how you can get involved this season:

Christmas caroling at Walmart

Starting Black Friday, Nov. 29, volunteers will be spreading holiday cheer through caroling in front of Walmart. Carolers will continue serenading shoppers through Christmas, collecting donations to support the Pantry. Whether you’re a solo singer or part of a group, everyone is welcome to participate. To schedule your time to sing, contact Marty McCain at (281) 841-2943.

Ephraim Co-op Nativity Festival

The annual Nativity Festival returns to the Ephraim Co-op Building, 96 N. Main St., on Dec. 6, 7, and 9. This free event features handcrafted nativity displays from around the world, live music, and complimentary refreshments. A nativity auction will also take place, with all proceeds benefiting the Sanpete Food Pantry.

Christmas Trees and Wreaths at Fairview Museum

Visit the Fairview Museum of History and Art at 85 N. 100 E. in Fairview for a dose of local history and festive shopping. Alongside fascinating historical exhibits like the woolly mammoth skeleton and regional art, the Museum is selling Christmas trees and wreaths as part of the fundraiser. Proceeds go directly to the Pantry, so you can decorate your home while giving back to the community.

Recycle and Sip at Coffee Depot

The Coffee Depot in Mt. Pleasant (845 S. Highway 89) is teaming up with Recycleops to host a recycling and donation event on Friday, Dec. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your holiday recyclables, such as cardboard and wrapping paper, to the depot and receive a ticket for a free coffee credit. A donation box for the Sanpete Food Pantry will also be on-site.

New Year’s Eve Gala: ’20s Flappers & Fellers Casino Night

Ring in 2025 with a glamorous New Year’s Eve celebration at Peterson Dance Hall, 65 S. State St. in Fairview. This 1920s-themed casino night begins at 7 p.m. and features a special table where additional casino chips can be purchased, with proceeds benefiting the Pantry. Dust off your best flapper dress or pinstripe suit and celebrate for a cause.

Why it matters

These events do more than spread holiday cheer–they help support families in Sanpete County who are struggling to make ends meet. “The holidays are a time for community,” says a Sanpete Pantry volunteer. “These events remind us how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”

Join the Sanpete Food Pantry this holiday season to make your celebrations more meaningful. By participating in these events, you’re not only enjoying festive fun–you’re helping build a stronger, more connected community.
