SONIC supports local classroom libraries with book donations

SONIC Foundation donated $1.25 million to "Fill Every Shelf" across the country in October
This October, in honor of National Book Month, the SONIC Foundation donated $1.25 million to support classroom libraries nationwide through its “Fill Every Shelf” initiative. This campaign, part of SONIC’s Limeades for Learning program, directly benefits classrooms via the DonorsChoose platform, which allows public school teachers to request funding for essential resources.
Among the teachers benefiting locally are Mrs. Bradley of Ephraim Elementary School, who received $95 to support her “Classic Books Make Great Readers” project, and Mrs. Johansen of Spring City Elementary School, who received $197 for “Scholastic News for Grade 1.”
“Education has always been at the core of our Limeades for Learning program,” shared Stuart Brown, executive director of the SONIC Foundation, adding that the donation will empower future generations through literacy. Since its founding, Limeades for Learning has directed over $28 million toward public education, and this year alone, SONIC has helped to fulfill nearly 5,000 book-focused classroom requests, impacting over 134,000 students.
Local residents can support this mission by purchasing any drink at SONIC, with a portion of proceeds going directly to educational initiatives. To help fund more classroom requests, community members can also visit http://DonorsChoose.org/FillEveryShelf to contribute directly.
