Marilyn Vicchrilli

Marilyn Vicchrilli, a passionate and dedicated artist, will be showcasing her work in an exhibit at the Fairview Museum. The exhibit will kick off with an open house on Sept. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., and will run through Nov. 29.

Vicchrilli, who was born and raised in American Fork, has always had a love for art. In her early years, she began drawing small smiley faces on her homework, which she affectionately called “little freddy’s.” These doodles, resembling three-leaf clovers with big eyes, noses, and smiles, were the first signs of her budding artistic talent.

After marrying Michael Vicchrilli in 1975, Marilyn focused on raising their two children, who have since blessed them with six grandchildren and a great-grandson. Despite the demands of family life, she never lost her passion for art. Over the years, she explored various mediums, including sketching, chalking, acrylic painting, and watercoloring, though oil painting remained her favorite.

In 2014, with encouragement from her friends and family, Marilyn decided to fully pursue her dream of becoming an artist. She credits Stephen Stauffer for helping her take this leap by arranging for her to take oil painting classes with renowned artist David Dean. Since then, Marilyn has taken five summer classes at Snow College, further honing her craft.

One of Marilyn’s favorite traditions is creating her own Christmas cards, which she paints and draws each year. These unique cards have become a cherished part of the holiday season for her family and friends, who eagerly await their arrival each year. Marilyn also shares these creations on Facebook, where they continue to delight her followers.

Today, Marilyn enjoys the freedom of a large studio in her Mt. Pleasant home, where she spends nearly every day painting. With more space to showcase her art than just the walls of her home, she considers herself to be “living my dream.”

Marilyn’s exhibit at the Fairview Museum is a testament to her dedication and passion for art. The community is invited to attend the open house on Sept. 13 to meet the artist and experience her work firsthand. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local talent and support the arts in Sanpete County.
