Single adults age 35 plus, are invited to a scrumptious dinner on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Gunnison City Park beginning at 6:00 P.M. Members of the Gunnison Stake High Council and the Stake Relief Society Presidency are preparing a delicious dinner of fried chicken with all the trimmings for everyone in attendance.
Senior single adults from across the Utah Manti Region of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are invited to gather for an evening of good food, uplifting entertainment, and lively dancing on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at the Gunnison City Park west pavilion. The event begins at 6 p.m. and promises to be a highlight of the summer for those age 35 and older.
Hosted by the Gunnison and Salina Stakes, the evening will open with a scrumptious fried chicken dinner complete with all the trimmings, prepared by members of the Gunnison Stake High Council and the Stake Relief Society Presidency.
Following dinner, guests will be treated to a performance by award-winning cowboy poet Sam DeLeeuw, recently inducted into the Utah Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Hall of Fame. Known for her quick wit, heartfelt storytelling, and deep connection to ranching life, DeLeeuw draws inspiration from her years as a rancher’s wife, her family’s colorful history, and the everyday humor found in rural living.
Her accolades include multiple nominations for Female Cowboy Poet of the Year from the Western Music Association and the 2008 Will Rogers Award for Humorist of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists. DeLeeuw has performed across the West at gatherings, fairs, and festivals, and has served for many years as a judge for the National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo.
The fun will continue after the poetry with music and line dancing led by professional disc jockey Mark Minor of Salina, who will provide both the tunes and step-by-step instruction for those eager to hit the dance floor.
Organizers encourage all eligible single adults in the region to attend and enjoy an evening of fellowship, entertainment, and new connections.
