Snow College announces a full lineup of December performances

EPHRAIM — The Snow College Fine Arts Division and Eccles Center for the Performing Arts are ushering in the holiday season with a full month of concerts, showcases, and cherished traditions. From music and dance to student-driven productions, December offers something for every art lover in central Utah.

Production Showcase – Dec. 1, 5:30 p.m.

The month begins with the Production Showcase in the Eccles Center’s Larsen Recital Hall. This free event highlights the creativity and technical talent of Snow College Production students as they present their latest projects and portfolios. Open to the public, the showcase offers an inside look at the hands-on work happening behind the scenes in the college’s Production Track.

Student Composers Concert – Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m.

Later that evening, audiences can enjoy an entirely original musical experience as the Horne School of Music presents the annual Student Composers Concert in the Jorgensen Concert Hall. This free performance features new works written by composition students, with styles ranging from classical to contemporary.

Jazz Big Band Concert: “Basie to Bop: A Swingin’ Holiday” – Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.

The season swings into high gear with the Snow College Jazz Big Band, directed by Sarah Morrow. This lively concert celebrates the music of Count Basie and other jazz greats in a festive program perfect for ushering in the holiday spirit. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors.

Holiday Music Spectacular – Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m.

A Snow College tradition returns with the annual Holiday Music Spectacular, sponsored by Cache Valley Bank. The Wind Symphony, Choirs, and Spotlight will fill the Jorgensen Concert Hall with seasonal favorites and uplifting holiday selections. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for youth and seniors.

Fall Dance Concert – Dec. 5-6

The Dance and Ballroom Companies will take the stage in the Kim Christison Theatre for their high-energy Fall Dance Concert. Performances are scheduled for Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., showcasing a variety of contemporary and classic dance styles. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors.

Sounds of the Season – Symphonic Band Concert – Dec. 6, 5:30 p.m.

Kick off a festive evening with the Snow College Bands as they present Sounds of the Season, conducted by Dr. Christopher Nelson. This free performance will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Greenwood Student Center and serves as a perfect prelude to the Messiah later that night.

Handel’s ‘Messiah’ – Dec. 6-7, 7:30 p.m.

One of Sanpete County’s longest-running traditions returns for its 92nd year as Snow College partners with the Central Utah Master Chorale to present Handel’s Messiah. Held in the Jorgensen Concert Hall, this beloved community event is free to the public and continues to inspire audiences year after year.

Additional recitals and scholarship support

Snow College will host a number of additional student recitals throughout the month, with dates posted regularly online. A portion of all ticket sales supports scholarships for Performing Arts students, with further donation options available for the Departments of Music, Dance, and Theatre.
